The client operated a fleet of up to 50 copiers scattered across Hong Kong (from urban commercial buildings to the remote airport island). With manufacturer warranties expired, the fleet lacked maintenance. Mixed models meant consumables and parts were incompatible, some older machines had no replacement parts available and could not even connect to computers, severely impacting operational efficiency.
The client was participating in a major computer and communications expo and had originally planned to transport their office copier to the venue themselves. Only the day before the exhibition did they realise this was extremely impractical: they would need to arrange their own truck, risk damaging the machine, and leave office colleagues without a copier. The situation was urgent and required an immediate solution.
